How to Improve Video Call Quality

telyHD is designed to send and receive crisp, clear HD video.

However, the image quality you experience can be impacted by a number of factors.

The following information is applicable to telyHD, Skype™, and all other video calling applications.

Lighting

The most important thing both parties need to do is make sure that there is adequate lighting on people’s faces.

Tely Tip: If your couch has a window behind it, close the blinds to eliminate “back lighting” that can darken faces. If you are calling a mobile user, ask them to move to a well-lit area.

Remote Camera Quality and Scaling

Received video is scaled to fit your TV screen and the amount of scaling will affect picture quality. For example, most phone cameras have very low resolution. When the image is scaled, or enlarged, to fit your TV the image quality will decrease.

Game Mode

Most TVs have an option called Game Mode that creates a crisper image. While this is usually used with video games, this mode will generally improve your telyHD experience. Refer to your TV manufacturer’s guide for instructions or search tely.com/support.

Pause Other Internet Applications

Pause network-intensive applications, such as streaming music, back-ups, large downloads, video on demand, or applications that use large amounts of bandwidth.
